WORLD FAMOUS PLAYER SET FOR KILMARNOCK

After a week where Kilmarnock's financial worries were exposed and the team on a run of three consecutive defeats, a rare ray of light shone from Rugby Park.

The club are close to completing contracts to allow pop concerts to be held at the stadium and none other than Elton John is being lined up to perform as early as next summer.

The board has an excellent record in investigating sources of income from non-footballing activities, and having the stadium as a venue capable of staging such events can only be good news for the club and the town in general.

This week's AGM revealed an enormous hole in the club's cash flow forcing chairman Jamie Moffat into forking out £100,000 already this month with the prospect of repeating the act before Christmas. Much depends on the success of the hotel and sports bar, and both are returning positive figures.

On the field, Kilmarnock's signing of Mickel Wolski will give more competition for places in defence and is particularly welcome with David Lilley facing suspension.
