Kirk Broadfoot's second own goal of the season was all that separated the sides on the scoresheet, but Kilmarnock were well worth the victory to leapfrog their hosts in the SPL table.

The visitors took possession straight from kick-off and spread the play from left to right for Gordon Greer to swing in a dangerous cross-shot which was heading inside the far post, but Tony Bullock made an athletic tip over.

Kilmarnock's best chance of the first half fell to Steven Naismith in the eighth minute, when David Fernandez linked with Danny Invincibile for the Australian to pick out the teenager in acres of space six yards out, but he headed well over.

Killie's Graeme Smith was only forced into two routine saves, the first from Stewart Kean's glancing header, the second from John Sutton's snapshot.

Frazer Wright thought he had broken the deadlock in the 53rd minute, but his header was adjudged to have been cleared from off the line.

In the 70th minute, Greer charged toward the penalty box and angled a delicious low ball to the far post where David Fernandez fired the back across goal. Kirk Broadfoot slid in to try to clear, but could only lift the ball into his own net.
