Rangers 2-1 Kilmarnock

Somehow this game could be known as a bit of deja vu here because yet again, when playing the blue filth at Ibrox a missed sitter again from Danny Invincible caused the boys in blue and white to return to Ayrshire with nothing.  Had he scored of course, it would have been a different matter and the bluenoses would perhaps been silenced.

As it was the opening game of our season, despite the loss the performance was much better than in previous seasons. David Mendes Da Silva, Ben Gordon and James Dayton were Killie's new signings taking to the Ibrox pitch, and for the first time in a long time - our boys actually enjoyed having possession in dangerous areas.  This is a rarity but we have to ask - can the boys continue like this? Time will tell.

It only took 16 minutes for Kenny Miller to open the scoring after which many of our support must of thought, here we go again - it's another drubbing for us. Then again the boys combined with the new signings performed pretty well in the first half. This meant that the bluenoses were prevented from scoring another until into the second half, when former Killie player (or should that be traitor) scored his first goal of the season after 56 minutes to make it 2-0 to the Ibrox side.

The gap did not last long and it was reduced after Papac brought down new signing Dayton, this leading to a penalty. Penalty kick waa taken by Jamie Hamill and was put into the back of the net.  Rangers 2-1 Kilmarnock.

We still need to tighten up a bit on the backline but that will happen in due process. The bluenoses have always been known to be rough and violent towards our boys, in regards to tackling but the Killie boys have to remember not to retaliate.  This could lead to both a bluenose and one of our boys getting sent off, therefore meaning we could be one important man down for the next game.

NEXT UP: Motherwell's Steelmen come to visit Rugby Park on Sunday 22nd August. They have been on a good run lately, so as this is our first game at home, can Ayrshire's Finest cause an upset? We'll have to wait and see.
