Partick continued their late season form with a hard-fought point against Kilmarnock.

The first chance led to Kilmarnock's first goal after six minutes when Adrian Madaschi was judged to have brought down Kris Boyd in the box and referee Dougal had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

Boyd took the kick himself but it was well saved by Stephen Pinkowski, however Boyd was quickest to react to the loose ball to easily fire into the empty net.

Thistle tried to hit back right away, however, Billy Gibson's 22-yard shot after nine minutes was well wide.

They did however equalise on 19 minutes when Garry Hay up-ended Jamie Mitchell for the game's second penalty and in an almost carbon copy of Killie's attempt James Grady saw his spot-kick saved by Graham Smith, but again he reacted to the loose ball to bring Thistle level.

Both sides continued to provide an entertaining game without any other clear chances being made.

The second half saw Thistle look the more likely to take the lead but the home supporters were buoyed more by the score coming in from Inverness than what was happening on the pitch.

Killie took the lead upon 67 minutes when Boyd crossed deep and found Craig Dargo, who had the simple task of tapping in unmarked at the back post.

Kilmarnock almost extended their lead further on 86 minutes when Hay fired a 20 yard free-kick which appeared to be heading for the top corner until Pinkowski, making his debut, managed to get his hands to it in what was a save worthy to grace any stage.

Thistle were not willing to end their season with a defeat and in injury time they were awarded a second penalty when Dargo pulled back Mitchell and Grady made no mistake from the spot.

The game ended with Thistle still unsure if they will be playing First Division or Premier League football next season.

Kilmarnock however, will be hoping for a better season overall than they have had this term.
