Livingston 1 Kilmarnock 1

Two goals in the last seven minutes and a late offside flag added a dash of colour to a dull encounter that virtually ensured that neither club will finish in the top six this season.

League Cup winners Livingston have now won just one of their last eight SPL fixtures although they were never likely to show their best form after resting several key players ahead of Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic.

An improvised finish from David Fernandez momentarily looked as if it might produce an undeserved victory for them but Kilmarnock substitute Craig Dargo immediately scrambled home an equaliser from point-blank range.

The same player found the net again deep into injury time only to be denied by the assistant referee's flag.

Despite the frantic finish both teams adopted a low-key approach at the start, which was more in keeping with pre-season friendlies.

It took 15 minutes for the first shot to arrive but after David Lilley had headed over for Kilmarnock, fellow full-back Garry Hay strode forward and fired in a low left foot drive which Roddy McKenzie pushed round the post.

In the 25th minute striker Danny Invincibile whipped in a cross that the excellent Eric Skora nodded fractionally wide.

On a rare Livingston counter-attack a deflected John Paul McGovern pass ran kindly for Fernandez but keeper Colin Meldrum raced out of his area to beat the Spaniard to the ball.

Skora's sizzling long-range strike soon put the pressure back on the home side and top scorer Kris Boyd really should have put Kilmarnock ahead early in the second half when he latched onto a delicate chipped cross by Stevie Murray but then steered his header wide.

Livingston survived a half-hearted penalty claim when defender Jamie McAllister appeared to handle and they rode their luck again after 64 minutes as James Fowler's header hit McKenzie's chest, with the former Hearts keeper appearing to know very little about it.
