Kilmarnock moved up to ninth in the SPL table with a comfortable 4-0 win against hapless Aberdeen at Rugby Park.

Kris Boyd grabbed a brace as the Dons produced one of their worst displays of another dismal season.

Mark Canning and Boyd had already gone close to opening the scoring for Killie before Eric Skora broke the deadlock in the 24th minute.

The Frenchman rifled a low drive into the corner of the net from just inside the box.

Boyd then had a close-range effort blocked as Killie continued to dominate and it came as little surprise when they doubled their lead in the 36th minute.

Skora whipped in a free-kick from the left and Boyd volleyed the ball in from close range.

Just before the break Colin Nish headed a Skora free-kick against the crossbar as the Dons threatened to be over-run.

Boyd made it 3-0 in the 58th minute when Canning and Garry Hay set up the midfielder to tap the ball home.

The rout was completed three minutes later as Danny Invincibile set up Nish to coolly chip the ball over David Preece from just inside the box.

Nish almost added a fifth In the 74th minute as Aberdeen failed to get out of first gear.

Steve Paterson's troubled side are now certain to finish 11th in the table with just Partick Thistle below them.

They have won just nine of their 37 games and have endured another pitiful campaign.
