This particular game was one of those games which just had to be won, in order for Kilmarnock to seal their place in the top six in the SPL for the first time in many seasons. The initial target was just to survive the drop to prevent relegation from the SPL, however the amount of work Rugby Park gaffer Mixu Paatelainen and his backroom staff have done since they first arrived in Ayrshire has more than exceeded that target.

Kilmarnock can just about think about a place in Europe however again the league is more important, so winning as many games between now and the end of the season is crucial.

Back to the game and the first half began a bit bull with the visitors seemingly on the hot foot for posession, which eventually paid off for the Lanarkshire Steelmen .  Chris Sutton scored the opening goal with a powerful shot, after 15 minutes no thanks to being left a decent gap in the home defence and left Killie keeper Jaakkola with no chance of saving it.

After that the home side decent to up a gear and got themselves going which surprised the visitors. Shots came from Silva of which went wide or caught by the keeper.  It became evident that the equaliser was not far away and it eventually came from a header from Pascali via corner shot from Eremenko. Kilmarnock 1-1 Motherwell.

The home side then were throwing everything (including the Kitchen Sink) at Motherwell and were literally setting the hallowed pitch on fire.  Killie wanted more than a draw to end the first half.  The home side went ahead again a minute before half time, when Pascali was pushed as he went to aim for a header and the penalty was taken and scored by Jamie Hamill. Kilmarnock 2-1 Motherwell.

Into the second half and it was all the home side again however chances to come for the visitors, but they didn't take the opportunity as the visitors were desperate to score the equaliser. Kilmarnock however were still on a high after being ahead in the first half and took advantage of the gaping Steelmen's back line by scoring again to make it 3-1 to Kilmarnock. Liam Kelly scoring a low drive amongst a small stramash in the 6 yard box. All second half Motherwell had showed desperate defending and it was just lucky for them that the game ended with them conceding 3 goals, as it could of been more.

FULL TIME SCORE: Kilmarnock 3-1 Motherwell.
