Kilmarnock 2-3 Rangers

In a fiesty and entertaining game this particular match will be remembered for one thing, the home side throwing the game away literally when they were due to beat the light blues from Glasgow.

In a very rare event it took only a few minutes into the game for Ayrshire's Finest open the scoring, thanks to a nice close range from Connor Sammon.  This neat shot came initially from a pass close to the penalty area from Ben Gordon who then passed to Alexei Eremenko, then finally to Liam Kelly on the far side who put a short pass into towards Connor Sammon who tapped the ball into the net. Connor's goal celebration included a hand-made heart shape shown to home support.  He's trying to tell us and the Killie Management Board something, I wonder if they have picked it up?

So it's Kilmarnock 1-0 Rangers and I deserved lead at that and everything seemed to going fine, for the blue and whites until a very strange moment when the Rangers keeper took a goal kick and oddly enough, Jamie Hamill seemed to eye up a very quick goal.  Of course there would not have been any problem with trying to attempt something as ambitious as that,  if only Mohomadou Sissoko had not brought down a Rangers defender.  The ref signalled for a penalty of which ti rightly was, Kenny Miller stepped up and had Cameron Bell sent the wrong way to score the equaliser.

Kilmarnock 1-1 Rangers however it would still have been 1-0 to Ayrshire's Finest had that error not been made, even I have to wonder what on earth Sissoko was thinking? The first half a goal each.

Into the first half and it didn't take long for the home side to try ands score another goal, thanks to passes from Alexei Eremenko to Craig Bryson then to Connor Sammon but the Rangers defence managed to get there in the nick of time.

If making one stupid mistake was not bad enough for Sissoko well, he then made a serious stinker of an error.  the bluenoses own bad boy Kyle Lafferty was dribbling the ball up towards the penalty area, when Sissoko got in behind him and held him back then pulled his shirt.  With Sissoko already having one yellow card this was his second which equalled red, and he was sent off so no thanks to his pure stupidity and thoughtlessness - Ayrshire's Finest are unneccessarily down to 10 men.

Kilmarnock 1-2 Rangers but can the home side score again for the draw?  The answer is yes they can thanks to a fine pass from the back from Alexei Eremenko to Jamie Hamill then to who else but Conor Sammon who tapped it in to the net.  Kilmarnock 2-2 Rangers. Trying to hold on to a draw against the old firm is mission impossible but Killie have definitely been the better side, so the chances are good as long as the Killie defence does not end up with big gaps.

Sadly in this game it wasn;t to be as if Miller had scored a double header, you would always expect to know that he would want a hattick and so it came thanks to a pass from the midfield to the front and the Killie defence were tiring and gaping and so the inevitable happened, Kenny Miller stood up and shot the ball into the net with Cameron Bell going the wrong way.  Kilmarnock 2-3 Rangers.

It would not surprise me if the home support were seething due to the unforgiving mistakes made by Sissoko.  He made 2 mistakes leading to 2 penalties.  Take those off and the score looks extremely rosey for the Ayrshire men - Kilmarnock 2-1 Rangers.

Well would you believe it - there will be another chance for the Pride of Ayrshire to do the same again and hopefully avoid those very mistakes.  Ayrshire's Finest have drawn the Ibrox men in the Scottish Cup, only this time we travel to their place - a win there would be all the more gloryful.

Full time score: Kilmarnock 2-3 Rangers.
