On yet another week when the bad weather takes it toll on the footballing fixtures around the UK, this game turns out to be an important one for Ayrshire's Finest. Despite previous games being postponded then rescheduled, this one was the lucky one of two in the SPL card to survive the chilly grip.

The home side started the game going gungho against the opposition and it was only around 8 seconds into the game when on-form striker Connor Sammon had his first shot on goal.  Dominating in possession and with some lovely passing the ball, only a few seconds later and the home side have another shot on goal.

The blue and whites looked unstoppable however one slip and the opposition then had the ball, and when Hibernian players had it they kept it pretty well.  You could then hear the boos coming from the home stands due to the fact that home side did not appear to try and tackle anyone from Hibernian to reclaim possession.

However one of the opposition just happened to pass the ball back to the home side, which then enabled a pass to Mehdi Taouil, then the ball was passed to on-loan Stamford Bridge youngster Ben Gordon, who then fed the ball to Liam Kelly who then slotted the ball into the bottom right of the net. Kilmarnock 1-0 Hibernian.

Hibernian then piled on a wee bit of pressure by having that short period of possession, and they came close to scoring the equaliser on a number of occasions but thanks to the Killie defence and Cameron Bell - they shots were saved or blocked.  Strangely enough whenever Hibernian had the ball, nobody from Killie went to tackle so it was left to a slip-up from Hibernian (again), that enabled Killie to have the ball once again.

This time it was thanks again to Ben Gordon who looked great in the game, leading the passing of the ball and feeding it to Liam Kelly which once again put the ball past the Hibee goalkeeper to make it 2-0 Killie. The visitors kept on pushing for a goal and they camer close and closer but could never beat the home side defence nor Cameron Bell.

So after the restart - it was much of the same.  Hibernian still piling on the pressure to the Killie defence and then within 10 minutes of the restart, the visitors scored a consolation goal thanks to Derek Riordan.  The home side had a chance to go 3-1 up via James Fowler but his super shot was saved by Brown.  Hibernian kept up the pressure and literally threw everything including the kitchen sink at the home side's defence to try and score again but alas time was up - referee blew for full time.

Kilmarnock 2-1 Hibernian which then allows the Ayrshire side to move up to 5th in the table (for the moment anyway).
