A Gary McSwegan double gave Kilmarnock an unlikely win as they shattered Dunfermline's unbeaten record at East End Park.

The Pars dominated throughout, out-shot the visitors 18-6 and outplayed Killie in virtually every department yet somehow managed to end up with nothing.

A big part of the reason for that was some poor finishing in the opening 20 minutes that saw Sean Kilgannon and Steve Crawford both miss two golden opportunities while Darren Young should also have done better than blaze wildly over.

Dunfermline were made to pay in the 25th minute when McSwegan held off David Grondin before shooting into the roof of Derek Stillie's net from just inside the area.

Crawford finally found his shooting touch three minutes later when he latched on to a Craig Brewster head-on, flicked the ball past Greg Shields and Shaun Hessey before rifling a low shot under Francois Dubourdeau's body.

Although Stillie had to react well to deny Danny Invincibile shortly before the break, it was virtually all Dunfermline and they went ahead after 55 minutes with Crawford's second. Scott Thomson delivered the cross, Brewster superbly controlled it and laid it off to Crawford who rounded Shields and blasted home.

But Kilmarnock hit back and equalised after 68 minutes with another goal against the run of play. James Fowler played the ball into the edge of the area, McSwegan touched it on to Shields and the defender gave Stillie no chance with a powerful drive.

Eight minutes from time, Kilmarnock snatched the win with another goal on the break. Fowler was again the provider, delivering a long cross ball behind the home defence and McSwegan closed in on Stillie before slotting it past the Dunfermline keeper for the win.
