Ayrshire's Finest Draw Against The Buddies (but Killie could have won)

KILMARNOCK 1-1 ST MIRREN

This was my first game since December (due to adverse weather conditions) , so after discovering that we were on a winning run, I was desperate to see for myself how well the blue and white of Ayrshire's Finest are doing under JC's control. However the game proved to be quite the opposite.

After the whistle to start the game had been blown we started the game, just like we used to do under JJ, now wasn't one aspect of Jimmy Calderwood coming in to put a stop to that sort of thing? Anyway it did not look good in the first half for us on the whole.  St Mirren were on top and were pushing towards the goalmouth, therefore we were on the back foot and having to defend rather than push for goal ourselves. St Mirren also had a good few chances to be one or two up but like us they fluffed it - we also had good shots on goal but again the final third never really showed. The only real chance we got was when Chris Maguire scored to open the scoring but to be honest posessionwise, the Buddies were again on top and our boys could not string two passes together without screwing up.

Second half and it got from bad to worse.  We were gaping at the back, rarely keeping possession, ref was getting it wrong most of the time (no change there eh?), St Mirren were persistantly fouling and the ref refused to dish out cards until it got serious or put it another way - the ref did not know what he was doing.  It was like he did things in reverse.  Fouls were not fouls but things that were fouls weren't - catch my drift? I don't know what was wrong with Simon Ford but he kept switching off at the wrong time, in the end he was substituted.  However our leaky defence were shown up when Billy Mehmet scored the equaliser.

My man of the match would have to have been Manuel Pascali as he worked his shorts off today but the team let him down, Connor Sammon did try but he didn't really do too well. In the second half of the second half I discovered that the boys were playing for the draw - who says they should? There were umpteen opportunties to go on and win the game but all were scuffled and despite the constantly fouling St Mirren players, at least they had the knack to try and go for the win!

JC has now go to work out how to get the players of the norm of playing rubbish in the first 15 minutes, this happened under JJ and surely it won't be allowed under JC? We'll have to wait and see.

KILLIE TILL I DIE!
