Slovenian striker Jani Sturm will have a trial at Kilmarnock this week as Jim Jefferies seeks cover for David Fernandez and Gary Wales. Killie boss Jefferies told the club's official website that the ND Gorica forward would arrive in Scotland on Monday night. The 24-year-old is out of contract with the Slovenian champions at the end of the season. The former Hearts manager has watched Sturm in action and will use the Slovenian league's winter break to see the forward at close call. Dundee United manager Craig Levein was close to signing Sturm for Leicester towards the end of the 2004/05 season. However, the forward failed a medical after refusing to convince City's medical team he had overcome a long-standing groin problem. Killie have problems up front with Fernandez out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury and Wales suffering from a recurring hamstring problem.
