It's Official! Mixu is the new Kilmarnock Manager!

Last updated : 24 June 2010 By Killie Kingdom

The waiting for a new manager for Ayrshire's Finest Premier Football Team is finally over!  Mixu Paatelainen is the man named as the new Kilmarnock Manager. Mixu is tasked with the job of saving Kilmarnock FC from relegation plus improving our position in the SPL this coming season. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it.

Mixu was not the first man on the list as many folk before him were interviewed.  Thomas Hassler, Gus Mcpherson and Csaba Laslo were just a few.  However after they showed interested then once were given a bit more detail about the conditions they would be working with - decided not to take up the offer.

The financial restraints on a team will have a great effect on whether, a manager will take up the job when it is offered to him.   When a new boss comes in to a new club, it is natural for that man to stamp his mark on the team - clear out players that he does not see suitable for his starting X1 or players that he does not want involved in his team then bring in new ones.

The clubs budget has been cut by 25% to £1.5m and so trying to find new talent to aid the clubs survival this season will test the new managers stamina and ability to create the team he wants to make for the season ahead.

The team at the moment is threadbare, since Kevin Kyle, Simon Ford, David Fernandez and Gavin Skelton have all moved onto other clubs respectively.  Find replacements is going to be hard as money is even tighter than the season just gone.

Mixu has been given a 2 year deal and despite what he did with Hibernian, it's important that we the home support get behind the manager and the team to see how he gets on over the first period of the season.

WELCOME TO THE THEATRE MIXU!
