WOLSKI OUT THE WINDOW

Kilmarnock will be forced to sweat it out to find out if their defensive crisis can be eased before the transfer window closes.

Mikael Wolski had been invited back to prove his fitness in time to join the club, but turned up with an injury ruling him out for two months, leaving Killie no option but to cancel the deal.

Jim Jefferies and Billy Brown will wait by the phone until late into the evening to hear if they have been successful with bids they have made late in the day.

Wolski had been expected to provide much needed cover for Freddy Dindeleux, David Lilley and Gordon Greer, the only centre-halves with first team experience at the club.

Look out for an audacious loan bid with Celtic's Ulrik Laursen a candidate.

There may be a deal done in the coming days for free agent Simon Ford who has impressed in his trial spell.
