Welsh international given chance to impress

Welsh international midfielder Darren Barnard is on trial at Rugby Park after being released by Grimsby Town.

The midfielder, who played in the European Championship play off against Russia earlier this year, is eager to try his luck north of the border.

Meanwhile Kilmarnock hope to finalise a deal to bring 24 year old Oumar Bakari to the club within the next 24 hours.

Boss Jim Jefferies has been looking to add to his defensive options after losing Greg Shields, Sean Hessey and Barry McLaughlin in the last six months and sees the strapping Frenchman as an ideal candidate.

This is not the end of Jefferies's pre-season negatiations as the club is waiting to hear from a couple of other players and hope to have them in place before Killie's first home friendly match against big-spending Leicester City on Wednesday.
