THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

Kilmarnock coach Ian Durrant's advisers were in talks with Rangers today to finalise his return to Ibrox.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's Tennent's Scottish Cup fourth round replay, both manager Jim Jefferies and chairman Jamie Moffat took time out to thank Durrant for his contribution to Kilmarnock.

"It would be a fitting way to say goodbye if that's what it's to be, if we went through to the next round," said Jefferies.

"He's been fantastic for Kilmarnock Football Club and an inspiration to everyone here" added Moffat. "A lot of the success we had when he joined the club was down to him. You just have to look at the League Cup Final against Celtic which proved to be his last game. We were competing with Celtic when he was on the pitch, but when his knee gave out the players saw how badly hurt he was and it went flat and that showed just how important he was.

"The fact that it looks like he's going back to Ibrox is disappointing, but I understand why he'd want to do that. We wish him well and thank him for all he's done at Rugby Park."
