NOT LEVEN IN A HURRY

Peter Leven has revealed that he is ready to repay the faith shown in him by Jim Jefferies and commit himself to a new contract at Rugby Park.

The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the year after signing a short term deal in the summer in order to prove his fitness, but his form since breaking into the first team has removed any lingering doubts on that front.

His form has been good enough to earn a call-up to the Scotland Under 21s, and there had been fears that another SPL or English side would come in and nick him away under freedom of contract.

Leven, though, is happy to stay out. "The gaffer has been brilliant with me. I just want to play football and Kilmarnock gave me that chance, so I'm not going to do anything daft. The last six months couldn't have gone any better for me."

Leven also promised that there is more to come from him and the team. "I know my own ability. I just had to prove to everybody that I was back to playing football, but I'm nowhere near my best yet. The team's playing well and I think that we're better than some of the teams above us."
