Nish admits Killie rode their luck

The striker headed home Peter Leven's near-post corner to give Killie a 1-0 win after they had been outplayed for much of the SPL contest. "I was lucky I scored because I was hopeless apart from that. I gave the ball away a couple of times when I got it into my feet," he said. "But sometimes it's hard going on as a sub, you can't really get going. Other times you go on and you feel brilliant. That's the way it goes, at least I got the goal at the end and got us three points." Nish agreed Killie were fortunate to come away with three points, but felt they had suffered an unjust defeat at home to Aberdeen on Saturday. He said: "I didn't think we did too badly in the second half. But I think Motherwell had chances to win the game. "Probably the same thing happened on Saturday to ourselves. We were unhappy on Saturday but feel a bit more lucky than happy now. "It was disappointing that we lost on Saturday but the team played well. So I think it was just important to get a result because I think we were playing well enough anyway." Nish took his goal tally to 12 for the season and hopes to regain his starting place to push it up even further. Gary Wales partnered Steven Naismith up front as manager Jim Jefferies plans for the future. Nish said: "I was playing well enough but he (Jefferies) told me he wanted to think about next season and try other things because we are already guaranteed a top-six place. "The most I had before that was 10. I'm pleased but I want to try and score as many as I can this season and then I can put pressure on myself next season to do better." Jefferies said "I had a word with Colin last week, Wales hadn't played for a few weeks. I know all about Colin Nish and we are hoping to extend his contract. "I said I would use the games between now and the end of the season just to try and find out one or two things. That's why I went with Wales against Aberdeen and he played well. "It was just a case of giving him an hour tonight and putting Nish on."
