local rivals in dire straits ??

Strong rumours have surfaced that our county cousins Ayr Utd could may well fold after Barratt Homes have pulled out of the deal to buy Somerset Park which was earmarked for new housing.

The money for the sale was to be used to help pay for a new ground to replace the dilapidated Somerset Park with a new ground at heathfield which has now probably been shelved indefinitely.

Strong rumours that current chairman Donald Cameron may walk out with the club rumoured to have debts upwards of £1 million, it does not look good for Ayr Utd or their small band of fans, as a Kilmarnock supporter i take no joy out of the predicament facing ayr Utd, i may not like them but i wouldn't like to see them go out of business, Kilmarnock needs a strong Ayr and i would dearly love to see the old derby games return, but in the current circumstances those days may never return.
