Peter Leven announced himself to be "over the moon" after signing a two and a half year deal at Kilmarnock.

The new deal signifies the end of a nightmare two years and signals the end of his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury.

Jim Jefferies was delighted that the deal was agreed. "Peter came on trial at the end of last season. He was over weight, but you could see he had ability. I told him to lose a stone over the summer and he came back in great shape. We took him with us on our summer trip and he played in a couple of pre-season games. We gave him the opportunity to break into the first team and earn a longer contract, and he's done that."

Leven is delighted that the effort that he put in in the summer has paid off. "I'm over the moon, delighted. A lot of people take a break in the summer, but I ran every day, went to the gym. I'm as fit as I've ever been or ever will be. Even when I was on holiday with my girlfriend, I ran in the heat."

Jefferies also confirmed that he expects Gary MacDonald to agree an extension to is current deal, which expires at the end of the season. "We've had preliminary talks. It's just the length of contract to sort out. He wants to stay here, and we've offered him a three year deal, but he's ambitious and maybe doesn't want to tie himself up for too long."
