Leicester City pose stiff test

The fruits of Leicester manager Micky Adams summer spending spree will be on display at Rugby Park on Wednesday.

Adams's squad will be going all out for an instant return to The Premiership and has added considerable quality in the close season.

Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown is expected to play for 45 minutes and veteran striker Dion Dublin is also expected to play. Other familiar names in the visiting dressing room will be Ian Walker, fresh from England's Euro 2004 squad, Jason Wilcox who played in some major occasions for Leeds United and Gareth Williams who is knocking on the door of the Scotland squad. Watch out as well for Scot Gemmill who is on trial at the Walkers Stadium.

The squad is packed with international experience with Nikos Dabizas still on a high following Greece's minor miracle in Portugal, while David Connolly was recently bought from West Ham for £500,000.

Add the fact that former Kilmarnock favourite Peter Canero returns six months after signing for the Foxes and it all adds up to a mouth-watering pre-season fixture.

It may only be a friendly, but it will be a good yardstick with which to measure the progress of our current young crop, most notably Kris Boyd and Stevie Murray, and a draw would be a good result to take into Saturday's final warm-up match at Rugby Park with George Burley's Derby County.
