Killie say No to Naismith Deal

Killie Chairman Micheal Johnson has rejected the opening offer for Steven Naismith, the 20-year-old forward, who flew to the Faroe Islands today with the Scotland squad.
"We have had no offer from Rangers that would be of any interest whatsoever to us," fired Rugby Park chairman Michael Johnston today.

"Everyone knows we turned down £1m for the player last summer. And the moves currently taking place in the market indicate that was the right thing to do. We have no reason to change our stance now. A player like Steven is just going to get more and more valuable. He has just been called up to the international squad.
"He is a key player for us and we have no desire to let him go. He is happy at Kilmarnock, so it would have to be a very special offer from ours and Steven's point of view to persuade us to part.

"He is under contract until 2010 and there are a number of clubs interested, so we see no need to rush into any kind of deal."

as a footnote Killie supporters expect Kilmarnock Chairman Micheal Johnson to accept no less than £2 million pounds for our star asset when considering Steven Naismith has won Scottish young player of the year 2 years in a row and Celtic paid £4.4 million for Hibs player Scott Brown and Rangers shelled out £2 million for Steven Thomson also of Hibs as well, Kilmarnock fans rightly feel that our club should not accept any less than £2 million for Steven Naismith and the club should stand firm against Rangers and the pro Rangers media
