Killie reject 3rd offer for Naismith from Rangers

A third offer to Kilmarnock for Steven Naismith was merely the source of further bad news for Rangers fans when Jim Jefferies insisted it still fell short of their valuation of the player. The Ibrox side - who have already seen staggered bids of £400,000 and £750,000 for Naismith knocked back - faxed a third offer on Friday which guarantees Kilmarnock £750,000 up front, a fee which would then rise to around £1.5m after the player has made a specified number of first-team appearances.
The total sum involved is now in excess of the £1.4m benchmark figure originally discussed by Bristol City, but Kilmarnock feel no need to rush into selling a player who is under contract until 2010.

"There is probably a fee that the club couldn't turn down, but Rangers are nowhere near it, and if they keep coming back with add-ons and things like that it just isn't going to happen," Jefferies told the Sunday Herald last night.
