Naismith's impressive displays have attracted interest from a host of clubs, as well as earning him the SPFA Young Player of the Year award this season.
But Nish has urged the 20-year-old to remain at Rugby Park for another year in a bid to win international recognition.
He said: "I think he is good enough to play for Scotland, he would learn a lot from being in the squad.

"I still think there is plenty of improvement in him. I hope Stevie stays for another year or two, he can go on to bigger and better things after that. I would be delighted if he stayed."
Naismith has most recently been linked with a £1million move to Rangers and Nish added: "I asked him what was happening but he said he hasn't heard anything.

"He is pretty level-headed and I don't think it will bother him. I don't know what will happen but he is a great player and he could be playing for anyone.
"I enjoy everything about playing with him. If you go for a header and flick it on, you know he's going to be there.
"He is always sniffing about and he can always turn a bad ball into a good ball. He is just a great wee player."

Meanwhile, Nish is hoping to make an impact of his own this weekend when he comes faces to face with his former Dunfermline boss Jimmy Calderwood.
The striker, 26, was released by Calderwood in the summer of 2003 after failing to hold down a place in the first team.

Both men have moved on since then - Nish to Killie and Calderwood to Aberdeen - and Nish insists there will be no bitterness when Kilmarnock make the trip to Pittodrie on Saturday.
He said: "If he didn't think I was good enough and didn't want to play me, then it was up to him.

"I wasn't really bitter about going because I was more worried about what I was going to do next. It is better to think about the future than the past.
"It's probably the best thing that could have happened in the long run.
"I really enjoy it at Kilmarnock and I feel like I am improving every season I've been at the club.

"When I came to Killie I improved under the manager and Billy Brown - they know how to get the best out of me.
"It is not about me proving Jimmy Calderwood wrong, it is more about proving Jim Jefferies and Billy Brown right for taking a chance on me."
