Getting to final is massive

He insists the cup final experience will only be worth it if Kilmarnock win against Hibernian at Hampden Park on Sunday. Di Giacomo revealed manager Jim Jefferies set his players the target of finishing in the top six of the Scottish Premier League this season, and urged them to embark on a lengthy cup run. In the subsequent months Kilmarnock were able to do just that, having all but assured themselves of a place in the upper reaches of the SPL, while making it through to this weekend's Hampden showpiece. But Di Giacomo admits with Kilmarnock now through to the final, he and his team-mates are desperate to secure the Ayrshire club's first trophy since their Tennent's Scottish Cup win in 1997. He said: "On the first day of pre-season training, the manager said our priority should be a top-six finish along with a decent cup run and we have been able to do that. "Barring a major disaster we will definitely finish in the top half of the table and getting to a cup final is massive for the club. "But we don't just want to go and take part in the game at Hampden, now that we have got there we want to win it." Di Giacomo has been a key member of the Kilmarnock side in recent weeks and is set to be rewarded with a place in the team for Sunday. Manager Jefferies has been encouraged by the Glaswegian's contribution since returning from a spell on the sidelines with a broken jaw, particularly with his double strike against Inverness in the league last weekend. Di Giacomo has been playing wide right as an attacking midfielder, with Steven Naismith and Colin Nish selected as strikers. Jefferies said: "Last week he scored twice against Inverness and I was particularly impressed with his second goal which was a really instinctive finish. "He has a good engine, good feet and good pace, and he can do something a little bit unexpected."
