Di Giacomo laments missed chances

Di Giacomo, who was playing at right midfield, felt they had not made the most of their attacks. The 24-year-old said: "We are all gutted. Fair play to Hibs, they played well and thoroughly deserved to win. "So no complaint from that point of view, just complaints that maybe we let ourselves down. "But you learn from these things and if we get to another final I'm pretty sure we will put on a better performance. "But there was no lack of effort from the boys, just maybe the likes of myself made the wrong decisions at the wrong times. "I thought we started really well, we played okay but Hibs had three or four shots on goal and troubled Alan Combe more than we did the Hibs goalie. "But it was an open game because it's such a big park and both teams were attacking." It may be little consolation after their traumatic day at Hampden, but the weekend saw Kilmarnock complete their main aim for the season. Inverness's defeat by Dunfermline on Saturday ensured the Ayrshire side will finish in the top half of the Bank of Scotland Premier League. And a 4-0 home loss for Hearts against Dundee United left Jim Jefferies' side just five points off fourth place with a game in hand. "The manager said at the first day of pre-season that all he wanted was top six and a good cup run," Di Giacomo said. "We have done three-quarters of that, the only thing we didn't manage to do was get the right result. "It's a sore one, I don't think 5-1 was fair, the last goal was just one of those ones when you're luck's down, your luck's down. "But the boys will bounce back and we'll battle on. We'll play for pride and we might sneak into Europe."
