COUNTDOWN IS ON TO VITAL DOUBLE-HEADER

Kilmarnock travel to Tynecastle on each of the next two Saturdays for matches which will go a long way to decide if their season will be a success or descend into mediocrity.

This weekend sees the clubs meet in the fourth round of the Tennents Scottish Cup, and with Rangers already out of the tournament, both sides fancy their chances of reaching a rare final. Hearts missed out on an appearance in the CIS Cup final after being knocked out by Motherwell after fighting back from two goals down and will be determined not to suffer a repeat of that disappointment.

Killie, on the other hand, have proved to be stiff competition for both sides of the Old Firm and, despite a dismal record at Tynecastle where they were eliminated from the CIS Cup, will fancy their chances of progression.

The following weekend sees league action at the top of the agenda. Victory is vital if Kilmarnock are to maintain their challenge for a top six finish and the financial benefits that are so necessary to the Ayrshire side.
