New Scotland manager named his first squad for a "get-together" in Manchester today and has chosen to omit Killie keeper Alan Combe. The influential goalie had been drafted into Tommy Burns' squad but Smith preferred to recall Neil Sullivan.

Kris Boyd was unsurprisingly named in Rainer Bonhof's Under-21 side together with Craig Samson, while Peter Leven, who was drafted in to the side against Sweden, will be disappointed to have missed out.

Hearts Paul Hartley received his first call-up to main squad where he will be joined by Hibs strike pair Garry O'Connor and Derek Riordan who impressed so much against Kilmarnock on Saturday. Everton's David Weir was also named marking the end of his exile from the national squad after his public row with Berti Vogts.
